Pennine Heritage are looking for new Trustees to join our board. If you are enthusiastic about the history and culture of the South Pennines, then this is your opportunity to help us conserve this heritage and share it with the world.

What's involved in being a trustee?

Our board of trustees meets every three months to discuss and decide on governance matters. But being a Trustee is much more than attending meetings - our Trustees get involved in many aspects of the charity, from curating exhibitions to giving technical advice or hosting events. Our Trustees have the chance to take on leadership roles which suit their interests and experience.

Who are we looking for?

We welcome applications from anyone who has enthusiasm to offer. We are particularly looking for new Trustees with experience in:

  • IT, web design, and social media
  • Maintenance and management of historic buildings
  • Fundraising
  • Archives, museums, or libraries

We are also keen to hear from candidates who are currently under-represented at board level in our sector, including women, people from ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+ people, disabled people, and younger people. If you have any accessibility needs during the application process or as a Trustee, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate them.

About Pennine Heritage

Pennine Heritage is a charity based in Hebden Bridge, working to conserve and share the unique history, culture, and landscapes of the South Pennines. We own and operate the Birchcliffe Centre, a 19th century chapel which has become a thriving heritage centre, performance venue, and hub for local businesses. We are partners in the South Pennine Archives, which includes our collection of over 50,000 digitised historic photographs - an incredible resource for historians and the community. With a small staff and volunteer team, active trustees are central to achieving our vision of shared heritage.
