BSHS Public Engagement Fellow Announced!
We are delighted to announce our new Public Engagement Fellow, generously funded by the British Society for the History of Science.
Kelly Swaby is a PhD researcher at the University of Huddersfield studying the history of medicine and healthcare, with a particular focus on nursing and the NHS in 20th century Britain. The BSHS Public Engagement Fellowship will allow her to extend her research into the South Pennines region, examining how local provision of nursing in rural communities was shaped by professionalisation. This will give Pennine Heritage new insights into our archives, and allow us to create a new public engagement programme around the history of nursing.
Kelly will begin her fellowship in September, and be with us throughout the Autumn.
